Gus Atkinson added to England's injury problems after leaving the ground during Saturday's play of the Boxing Day Test versus the Australians.
Atkinson felt a problem in his left hamstring post-delivery in his spell on Saturday.
The touring camp indicated Atkinson felt some "soreness" and was to take time on the sidelines in order to be assessed "during the day".
The final Test of the tour in Sydney starts on Sunday, 4 January.
England have previously lost fast bowlers Mark Wood to a knee injury and Jofra Archer because of a side injury on this Ashes tour.
A replacement bowler was added to the party to provide backup.
His form was underwhelming in the opening two Tests, taking just three wickets.
He was omitted from the previous Test, then recalled for the fourth Test as Archer's replacement.
