Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

It said missile fragments landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
