'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith resumes battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the thrilling dying seconds of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful effort from 25 yards, and the defender quickly converted the deflection before charging toward the home end to revel in the moment, with fans swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result completed an incredible comeback given the team had found themselves down 2-0 during the second half. Amid the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win booked a upcoming fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith ran close at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's volley from about way out going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for having a go from that range," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right defensive wing after Orient changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way Orient played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the basics and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," Galbraith says. "It feels like they always find their target and they understand how to manage and slow down a game. You can think you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just thread a ball between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and attention just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a popular figure across two seasons at his former club and has quickly replicated that in his new home. At his previous team he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford, before he departed his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a bit naive going into senior level. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without real physicality. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

He has shown that growth for club and country, performing well for Northern Ireland, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including both legs fixtures against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Early Days

This marks quite the ride for the youngster from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his father, his father, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

His sole appearance for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was sealed owing to the weather of bitter cold. "It was a extended travel and it was chilly," he comments, smiling. "The days leading up, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to leave United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "It was relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I understood I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm hugely grateful for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I thought I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

It is mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a team vehicle driven by club employees, the drivers, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with a teammate, Ronald, the midfielder – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to interact with the teammates but I'm planning to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and driving. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would blend in with fans on public transport after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
