A man from Australia that leaped past a barrier and touched actress Ariana Grande has been expelled and banned from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, aged 26, was given a sentence to more than a week in prison for causing a public disturbance and has now been "prohibited from returning to Singapore," Singaporean immigration authorities informed local media.

The man shoved beyond security and rushed toward the celebrity, who was participating in the Asian debut for the musical adaptation on November 13. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.

Wen has a history of disrupting concerts and star-studded occasions, including jumping on stage at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in this summer.

The occurrence provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with several individuals accusing him of re-traumatising Grande.

The celebrity has spoken of dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a explosive incident at her performance in the English city in May 2017 killed 22 people and affected hundreds.

During Wen's trial, the court heard he had tried to gain access on the film's premiere on two occasions, according to regional reports.

He then made a another effort to cross the barriers. Protection personnel stopped him and held him in place.

Wen later posted videos expressing gratitude to the star for allowing his presence and said he was "at liberty."

Law enforcement arrested him the following day and brought charges against him with causing a disturbance, to which he confessed.

The District Judge the magistrate was quoted by a news outlet as stating that he was looking for publicity, adding that he was wrong to assume he would not suffer any consequences.

Grande has not commented on the case.

Cynthia Erivo discussed the event to the press, saying that she "just wanted to verify my co-star was protected."

"I think he didn't mean us danger, but you cannot be certain with those things, and I wanted to make sure that she was OK. That was my initial reaction," she said.
