The Renowned Musician Encourages Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Christmas No 1.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort aims to provide aid to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”

Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“It has a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Production History and Featured Artists

The track was produced following a solidarity show held in the autumn. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the piece was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.

The impressive roster of musicians contributing to Lullaby includes a selection of acclaimed names from the scene. All took part in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a group of talented individuals. The track features a combination of the heritage language with new English lyrics.

The team running the project have clarified that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These donations will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.

“We don’t have a specific target,” a spokesperson said. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Naturally, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”

The reality in the area was noted for its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure described as destroyed or damaged.

“Given that reality, a few million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is above all making this cause better known and showing there’s another side to the story.”

The song is launching this Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from mid-December.
